He can see perfectly with his right eye and a fairly light, clean scar can be seen on the left side of his face going from the eyebrow down to his cheekbone. He is almost always smiling about something and when he is smiling his entire being seems to glow. His only jewelry consists of a necklace with a teardrop shaped stone on it.
The degree to which he is attuned to nature is evident in Shou's clothing. Everything he wears has something that ties it into nature. Everything he wears is either handmade, or he has it made by an old friend he met on his travels. He can usually be walking around in a brown and green molted cloak. The textures of the cloak disrupts his outline, making it easy for him to blend in and hide when needed, though it was to be the cloak that a troubadour would wear to show his profession. He usually has on shirts and pants that reflect the seasons underneath, winter being a dull gray; spring vibrant and lush greens; summer a dark, mature looking green; and fall being a vibrant mixture of oranges and reds. Most of the time he avoids wearing shoes, only wearing them in the dead of winter when having nothing on his feet would give him frostbite. He is never seen anywhere without his mandolin nor his wood flute.
PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS Alignment: Neutral Good Religious Affiliation: Holy Likes: Nature, peace, animals, helping others, music, instruments Dislikes: Rude people, being teased about his height, animal abuse Description: Despite his petite size, Sky (Shou's nickname) is extremely protective and wiling to fight for what he believes is right and a tremendous amount of passion for the things around him. He will not kill an animal nor will he even eat meat, instead basing his diet on the plants and fruits of nature. He is somewhat quiet and withdrawn when not preforming, surprising most that he can sing and recite poems with such ease. He is always extremely honored by any compliment that he receives, even when it comes to his musical abilities. He can not be rude to anyone he knows, something he picked up from his quiet and graceful mother.
He is always finding the fun side to anything and trying to brighten the mood of the people around him. He is always looking for the positive side of anything, trying to avoid anything that makes the mood darker than it should be. He is extremely kind, though wary, and will treat anyone he meets with the utmost respect, especially his elders.
HISTORY AND BACKGROUND Shou lived a quiet and cozy life when he was small. He was a single child living with his mother and father in a cozy hut built into the side of an ancient tree on their property. Every night he would lay on one of the many branches and listen to his mother sing to the plants and animals that lived in the area. His father was a retired soldier and would sit outside with him to listen to his mother's voice. He had one good friend that he knew like the back of his hand, and enjoyed being around. He did everything with her when he wasn't with his mom and dad and could usually be found exploring the world that surrounded them. She was the one who gave him his prized necklace and his nickname, Sky.
The peaceful life was not to last though. One day when he was headed to his friends place he found that it was in flames. He ran up and her dieing brother told him that she had gotten out alive and that someone had done the terrible thing. He searched all day for her in the surrounding land but could not find her. When he came home, just before his mom was to start her nightly routine of singing, he found it in flames. A man with pale white skin laced with scars and lips covered with a shock of scarlet blood was standing in front of the flaming house. The last thing he remembered was feeling a sharp pain on the left side of his face, something slamming into the back of his head, and then nothing as the world around him faded away.
When he woke up, Sky found himself laying on the ground in front of his now burned down home. The left side of his face hurt as he stumbled to a nearby creek to wash his face and was shocked to find a long cut on the left side of his face that had scabbed over. He closed his right eye experimentally all ability for sight in his left eye. He then lived on his own, at this time he was only seven but he managed by singing to the animals, who in turn brought him food and herbs he needed to keep his wound from becoming infected. He never returned home to see if his friend was still alive. He from that moment on treasured the necklace that she had given him, a tear drop shaped stone. He lived from then on with a hollow feeling in his heart, the place where his best friend used to fill.
COMPANION
GENERAL INFORMATION Companion Name: Hayato Gender: Male Age: 6 Species: Peregrine Falcon
PROS AND CONS Strengths/Skills: • Can control wind, giving himself a tailwind for extra speed • Is extremely fast, even without an added tailwind • Loves to fight and is good at it
Weaknesses: • Small • Not as strong as the larger of his breed
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS Height: Length is 13 inches, wingspan is 31 inches Weight: 0.97 pounds Physical Build: Small, fast, light, and agile Description: Hayato is your typical Peregrine Falcon, he is built small. His wingspan is only about 31 inches and he measures about 13 inches in length. He weighs in at a slight 0.97 pounds making it comfortable for him to sit on Sky's shoulder while he is walking through the streets. He, just like Sky, is on the smaller side of his breed which makes him the perfect size for Sky. He is often found squeezing through the smallest of places to get to where he is trying to go.
His wings are a bluish black to slate gray with indistinct darker barring and have black wing tips. The white to rusty underparts of his wings are barred with thin clean bands of dark brown or black. His tail, colored like the back but with thin clean bars, is long, narrow and rounded at the end with a black tip and a white band at the very end. The top of his head and a "mustache" along his cheeks are black, contrasting sharply with the pale sides of his neck and white throat. His feet are yellow and his beak and claws are black. The upper portion of his beak is notched near the tip as are all birds of prey.
PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS Alignment: Chaotic neutral Likes: Causing trouble, having fun, and fighting Dislikes: fire and lightning Description: Hayato is a stubborn little bird. He is often seen attempting to carry off a kill that is way to heavy for him to even get off the ground. Besides this, he is an extremely loyal bird, only leaving Sky's side to go hunting. He is often seen either flying over head or sitting upon Sky's shoulder or head. He has intelligence beyond his years and can come up with a solution to nearly any problem.
He is often the one to get Sky into trouble sadly. He often will bug the store clerks whenever they are handling meat forcing Sky to avoid butchers whenever he can. He hates it when anyone tries to hurt Sky and will attack anyone who does. He can control wind to a certain extent but not to the extent that an elemental bird could which frustrates him most of the time. Once or twice his bad attitude has gotten Sky in trouble with the authorities.
HISTORY AND BACKGROUND When Sky was about 10 he came across an abandoned birds nest. He looked in it and to his surprise saw a half starved baby falcon. He instantly took pity on it and nursed it to health like any mother would a baby and named it Hayato. He ended up regretting ever taking in the small bird because it became a hassle whenever he went into town. A few times Sky was nearly jailed or guards had threatened to kill the bird if he couldn't control it. Hayato grew out of that stage quickly and wised up, though maybe a little too much for his own good. He learned the exact limits of what he could get away with and will never break it now.
