PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS Height: 6'2" Weight: 160 lbs Physical Build: tall, gangling, lithe Hair Color: silvery grey Eye Color: electric yellow Description:
Darcy doesn't share many physical characteristics with her siblings. In fact, she doesn't look like either of them at all, except maybe in the shape of the face and her physique and height. Otherwise, she's entirely different from hair color to eye color to usual facial expression and everything in between.
For starters, her skin tone isn't ivory and white as the moon like Falkor and Roxanna. It's olive-toned, and it tans very easily. Most of the time, in fact, she's very tan, though her tan lines are dramatic considering she doesn't try to get brown-skinned. As she travels so often, it just happens. And depending on what she's wearing that day, certain parts of her skin do not tan. As such, her belly and back are blindingly white in comparison with the rest of her body. The color is almost lifeless, and yet it is still darker than Falkor and Roxanna combined.
The olisthir hasn't ever cut her hair. Not once. She has kept it growing since the day she was born. It's since then grown to be jaw-droppingly long, cascading down her entire body until her knees. Most of the time, she wears it up and out of her face just because it's such a hindrance. She'll never cut it, though, no. Never. She'll never get rid of a part of herself, ever. She just can't.
Her hair is slate grey and very boring. It is darker than the grey that falls smack-dab in the middle of black and white. Her ends are very damaged, split, and destroy from dealing with so much trauma and never being cut, but the rest of her hair is healthy. Usually, her hair is dirty as she doesn't get to wash it every day like the luxurious lives of the sane.
Darcy's eyes are blindingly yellow. Falkor never knew where she got them from, as both of her parents had blue eyes. He recalled hearing someone, a spiritual leader of Acerbus Umbra's chapel perhaps, say it was a sign of her lack of sanity, as if her life had been plagued. His guess had been correct. They glow like lightning, electricity, the vibrant warning yellow of poisonous snakes and frogs. There is also a pencil-thin, black ring in the center of her irises, circling her pupil. It's not noticeable unless you're unlucky enough to look into her eyes long enough or come face-to-face with Darcy.
Her build is quite similar to that of her siblings, and that just might be the only thing possible to identify her as a Nightingale without the assistance of her last name. She's very tall, unusually tall for a woman, flaunting an envious, model-height of 6'2". Darcy is also very gangling and lanky, with long legs and long arms. She's all around very skinny without much curve to her figure, and she's very physically fit. Her face reflects her body very well, too: little fat and no baby face. Her cheek bones are high up, like her siblings', and her cheeks are shallow, providing a dramatic shadow. She has a chiseled, square jaw, and a disgustingly pleasant smile revealing a set of fairly straight teeth. Of course, her smile is never genuine, or at least one should not take it that way. No one should smile for the reasons she does or find happiness in the things she does, which is why her smile is so sickening and foul.
PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS Alignment: chaotic evil Religious Affiliation: very selfish Likes: Tyras, Raemar, Polemos Dasi, murder, stealing, treachery, fire, freedom, independence, strawberries, alchemy, bright colors, being alone, confusing others, sniffing flowers, raw meat, physical pain, seeing others in physical pain, intimate physical connections Dislikes: Erzes, Faerym, the law, the guards, the Church, the Emperor, vampires, restrictions, limitations, being commanded, the thoughts inside her head, being disorganized and mentally unstable Description:
It is best to stay as far from Darcy as humanly possible. She is not to be befriended.
From first impression, one might think she is just a normal girl with unusually bright, wide, vibrant, yellow eyes. Her general facial expression screams, 'possessed by a demon,' and if insanity can be regarded as a demon, then it is completely accurate.
Upon meeting Darcy, one might find that she's a bit strange... But it makes her funny. Likable. And then you might actually want to be friends with her, because a good friend who can provide a good laugh (even if she's not trying) is always good to have, right? Sure...
But then you start to talk to her more and find out her ticks and real personality. She might grab your arm without warning if you have a tattoo and begin examining it very closely, even sniffing it, perhaps uttering a mad, "What is the significance of these markings here?" while looking up at you with her wide, frightening, electric yellow eyes. It's very off-putting.
At that point, people tend to steer clear of Darcy, because they have officially realized she's not normal. She's completely weird and messed up in the head, and she cannot function in social situations like a normal person. She does not understand personal space, and she does not understand boundaries and not crossing them. Darcy is clinically mad.
Despite her social ineptitude, she's actually quite intelligent. She boasts a very high IQ, but this only adheres to logic, reasoning, and pure knowledge. She has no understanding of being, 'street smart,' hence her classification as a sociopath rather than a psychopath. Still, she's generally very good about cleaning up after herself and not leaving traces of her presence behind at the crime scene, whether it was a murder or a heist. Darcy knows what imprisonment is like, and she makes very well sure to never experience that ever again.
She has a strong love for both receiving physical pain and watching others receive it. The screams, be they hers or her victim's, fill her with ecstasy and she just can't get enough. Her own physical pain just gives her an adrenaline rush, and she gets a sort of high from it.
Also a bit unusual, Darcy loves, loves, LOVES strawberries and raw meat, or any combination of the two. She never cooks her kills, whether it's cow, pig, dragon, or even human (though she rarely performs cannibalistic acts as humans tend to be too fatty or too stringy). Their meat is always eaten raw. And if she's lucky enough to find a strawberry bush nearby, she does not hesitate to combine the two for a sweet-and-savory meal. The olisthir often wanders into castles and homes in the middle of the day and the middle of the night and raids for strawberries.
As with most serial killers, she has a pattern. Darcy tends to only kill young, female vampires and young men with dark hair. She always strangles them with her thick, bloodstained rope, sets them on fire for about two hours (during which time she hunts or just sits and watches like it's a bonfire), and then extinguishes them, leaving a white rose on their charred corpse.
For the most part, Darcy is more of a murderer than a thief. She only steals what's necessary and whenever she wants. She rarely plans her heists (or her murders for that matter), but, so as to not get caught, she tends to steal more in small towns and villages. Her corpse-fires always occur in the wild, even if it involves luring or dragging her alive or dead victim away from civilization. She also doesn't care if it means dragging a dead body through a populated city in the middle of the day, but that doesn't happen often as it is almost a surefire way for her to get caught.
Darcy is very prone to breaking out into bouts of hysteria. If she doesn't get what she wants (and she usually does because she often just doesn't care about consequence), she'll scream and cry and hyperventilate because not getting what she wants makes her go crazier than she already is. She hates being limited and restricted, and even more, she absolutely despises being ordered around. Darcy just needs to be free.
HISTORY AND BACKGROUND
Darcy was born just three years after Roxanna and five after Falkor. They were a pleasant, happy family for a grand total of two years, four months, and twenty-one days. And then Darcy disappeared. What became of her, she doesn't know. She just remembers living in a small hut in a forest. A man would come to the hut every day at sunset, feed her raw meat and strawberries, and tell her a story. And then he would leave. She was forced to fend for herself for the majority of her childhood. Darcy doesn't remember her siblings. She doesn't really like reflecting on any details of her childhood either. She doesn't know when she lost it, and we're not even really sure if she knows that she's lost it. She has, for the most part, been alone her entire life. If you ask Darcy about her history, her past, what her childhood was like, though, it'll send her into a rampage. She becomes extremely violent and bursts into hysterical fits of sobbing, swinging her weapons or fists, and throwing objects at the inquirer. It is wise to just leave it at the fact her abductor was not necessarily kind to her, and bringing her back to that life sends her through the roof.
