Acresso 25, 1591, After sunset In a clearing in the forest that borders the Auster Plains and Falian Lowlands
"Pretty night today isn't it Max" Michael said as max laid her head on his shoulder and smiled. She was happy, she always was whenever she was with Michael, something about him just made things click together. For some reason everything seemed more beautiful whenever he was around.
"Yes it is Michael. I'm just glad you survived that fight, and I'm glad you survived it. I like that you didn't kill the boy, even though Erik fights to the death." She smiled and wrapped her arms around his left arm. "It was very noble of you to do that."
Michael smiled and kissed the top of Max's head, "I know you don't like to see anyone killed in the arena, that's why I did it. I would do anything for you Max." He wrapped her in a hug and kissed her gently, Max's cheeks reddened in a blush as she kissed the older boy back.
Max had one thing on her mind though, and hopped it wouldn't happen. "I just hope he doesn't try to find you and extract revenge for making a 'fool' of him" She looked up because of a noise she suddenly heard something rustling around in a nearby bush. When a bird hopped out of the bush she let out a sigh of relief, "Good, it's nothing harmful..."
"That's what you think girl." Erik stepped out of the shadows of a tree and smirked. "And I'm afraid you're right about the whole revenge thing, but I'm afraid you're wrong about why I'm doing this."
Max leaped to her feet and stepped in front of Michael, who had already stood up to face Erik. "Don't Michael, he is only trying to aggravate you." She turned and approached Erik slowly. "Why don't you just leave us alone? We didn't do anything to you."
Erik smiled and stepped forward, his six foot five frame towering over Max's small five foot four frame. "Why don't you just get out of my way little girl?" He slapped her and then kicked her powerfully into a nearby tree. Max cried out in pain as she smacked into the tree, her arm bending the wrong way breaking her fragile bones breaking in two.
Michale stepped forward and slammed his fist into the side of Eriks face before walking over and kneeling next to Max. "What happened? Did he hurt you?"
"I-I think he broke my arm. I-it hurts so much...." She looked up at Michael and smiled painfully. Her eyes widened in surprise when she saw the knife coming down at him, Erik being the wielder of it. "Michael! Look out!"
"What? Look out for-" Michael chocked, spitting up blood next to max as the knife entered his back all the way. He collapsed to the ground, blood running from the open wound. Max screamed in terror as Erik ran off, laughing like a lunatic.
"Now you're girl will be all alone!" Max leaned forward, lifted Michael's head, and gently laid his head in her lap. She could feel the tears in her eyes welling up as she started to stroke his hair.
"You can't leave me Michael, you're the only one that I have ever loved!"
"I-I'm sorry Max..." he was cut off by a bought of coughing, which Max turned his head so that he wouldn't drown in his blood. "I guess the two of us were never meant to be together...." He shivered and took one last deep breath, "I love you Max." His eyes closed as his life left him.
"No!!" Max leaned over his dead body as her whole body was wracked with sobs, no longer caring if she got any blood on her dress. She couldn't believe it, the love of her life had just left her, she had expected to spend her whole life at his side. She cried for hours, wishing that there was a way to bring back Michael. She didn't realize that the pain in her arm was still there until she was too tired to cry any longer.
"Make this pain go away....Can anyone make this pain go away!?!" She cried out to the night, not really caring who or what heard her any longer. She was alone in her world now, she wanted nothing more than to just die right then and there so that she could be with Michael again.
She laid down next to his body, not really knowing what else to do now but cry. She was too tired to cry though, but she couldn't sleep. She was too wracked with grief to even begin to sleep.
"Do you need help little girl?" Michael Revera stepped out of the woods, his eyes widening at the sight of the bloody, dead body of the boy and Max laying next to it. Max sat up and looked at him blankly, not sure of what to make of this stranger.
"Would you like me to help you bury him and to wrap up your arm?" Michael continued kindly. At this Max nodded and stood up slowly and shakily. She looked at the man curiously, she had never seen a man dressed like him. He was in a suit and top hat, in the middle of summer.
