glacialis 16th, 1587, dusk dwyn house, brevis village, pertinax
It was dusk, the sun setting casting shadows inside the dimly lit house. A cry rang out, something very surprising for the Dwyn household considering they were typically a calm and quiet family. The mother, Ayda, held her lifeless husband, Lucifer closer to her as she knelt on the ground. Tears streaked her face and fell to the floor as her sobs continued, filling the house with nothing but sadness, anguish, and resentment. Suddenly, her head whipped up to turn her gaze to her only daughter.
"How dare you! Haw dare you do this to your own father!! Do you feel nothing, Emzara?!" Her mother yelled at her. The lesser angel's beautiful green eyes were burning with so much fury, it seemed like it could have just burned straight through her daughter standing before her. When Emzara didn't move or say anything, she screamed and lunged at her. She raked her nails over the soul stealer's cheek, leaving four red, definite lines behind. "Say something!!"
Slowly, Emzara placed a hand on her cheek, pulling it away and staring at it. "You said..." Her voice trembled, afraid. She shook her head, "You said you wouldn't hurt me... I thought you were an angel..."
No one would expect Ayda Dwyn to ever be capable of snapping at anyone or hurting anything. They expected the Reviden sisters, Ayda and Adara, to be as kind as they looked. With a pleasant smile, gorgeous blonde hair, and natural green eyes, she was the spitting image of an angel.
Ayda laughed. It was a sound bordering insane, maniacal. It made Emzara flinch, finally taking a step back. "You dare say that when you just killed this man? Your own father?! You deserved that! Why would you even do such a thing to him? He cared for you, raised you!"
"I didn't mean to..." Emzara replied, purple eyes cast down at the ground.
"And how do you repay him?! You-- You steal his soul!! You damned soul stealer, we never wanted you! We never wanted a child like you! We wanted a normal angel or demon!" She continued, obviously not hearing her daughter's protest. Standing at her full height of 5'9", she easily towered over her 15-year-old, 5'0" daughter. "He did nothing wrong to you. I did nothing wrong to you. So what made you do it, Emzara Maria Dwyn?"
"I didn't mean to! I've never meant to do any of this! I loved daddy as much as you did!!" The demon said despite how frightened she was of her own mother. "I would never have done it on purpose, mother, I swear!"
There was a long silence that followed after Emzara's response. It was only a few minutes, but to Em, it felt like an eternity. It left her too much time to think about what had just happened. She didn't mean for it to happen. She was just making dinner and she burned her hand. Her father had grabbed her wrist, pulling her to a bucket of water and, suddenly, she felt a rush of energy and her father was on the ground. Dead.
"Leave," Ayda Dwyn whispered.
"What?" Emzara looked up, not believing what she heard. "What did you say?"
"I said leave, Emzara. Leave, and never come back. If I see you back here, I will kill you. I do not care if you're my daughter. And if anyone were to ask, we are not related," Ayda explained, her tone dead now. Her gaze was back down at Lucifer. "Now, leave."
Emzara took two hesistant steps towards the door, stopping to look back at her mother who was watching her. She resumed glaring, making sure to keep it up until Emzara left. Taking one last look at her home, the demon exited the Dwyn house. She walked until she couldn't see the house anymore and collapsed, crying harder than she had when she was in her home.
"Emzara?"
Her head snapped up, her dark purple eyes meeting bright green ones. Cethin had a surprised expression on his face for once. It was quickly replaced by a smug smirk, however, as he realized what just went down. "You're first soul, huh? Who'd you take?" There was a new sound in his voice. It seemed interested. But she didn't speak. "Fine. I'm reading your mind, though." After a pause, he almost frown. "You're father... Odd. Did he make you angry or something?"
The lesser demon shook her head, "No... It was an accident..."
Cethin was quiet again. "And your mom kicked you out..." He sat down next to her, his usual smirk coming back. "Let me tell you something, Em. Angels, Demons, Mortals, Immortals... They're all selfish. And I don't mean Selfish like the gods. I mean, everything that lives is just a selfish being. Plants steal water to grow taller. Animals eat the plants so they continue to live. Man kills each other for higher purposes. Everything around you, even you, is selfish, looking for something higher or something to keep you living. Don't ever forget that, Em. You can't trust anyone, okay?"
His smirk grew as he wrapped an arm around her shoulder. "Well, no one but me."
