On Osoa, magic is the art of focusing energy from the sun, the moons, the stars, the gods, and even living things into diverse properties. Anyone can use magic at a weak level, but apprentices, journeymen, and masters of the Mages' Guild are open to more and much stronger level of magic. There are two types of magic: holy and selfish.
Holy Magic There are different levels of holy magic as dictated by The Hexadus. They are, in order from strongest to weakest, as follows:
The Unity Union magic is considered the most condensed and most powerful. It takes more energy to use union magic. It comes from The Unity as well as the caster. This level of magic is available to all mages, beginner to master, and is usually only used as a last resort or in dire situations.
The Duality (Aether) Dual magic comes from the forces of Aether, which is both Opifex and Auctor united. Only master mages can use duel magic, as it requires a strong heart, a lot of skill, and much energy from the caster. This magic is very powerful, often used as a last resort even to the masters.
The Trinities (Lux and Nox) Tri magic comes from either the Lux Trinity of Opifex, Xavia, and Kyreer, or the Nox Trinity of Auctor, Skaviir, and Noctzar. From which Trinity the magic energy comes does not make a difference in its casting, power, or ability. Tri magic is the most commonly used magic among mages, tied with magic from the Tetrad. It is considered the more powerful version of its equally as common cousin.
The Tetrad (The Seasons) Tetra magic comes from Skaviir, Xavia, Noctzar, and Kyreer, collectively known as The Seasons. Also known as seasonal magic, this is the most commonly used level of magic alongside tri magic. It is less powerful than tri magic and used more by journeyman mages.
The Hexadus Hex magic comes from one individual member of the Hexadus. It is the least powerful level of magic and used only for minor situations or by apprentice mages.
Selfish Magic Selfish magic is provided by The Santach, the gods who did not participate in creation. As an apprentice, selfish magic is provided by The Santach. As you progress through the levels of skill, selfish magic eventually comes from the other life forces around you as well as The Santach. This magic is banned in Osoa, but users are still abundant. The Mages’ Guild is in charge of policing selfish magic.
Schools of Magic There are different schools of holy magic to study, learn, and master. They are as follows:
Manipulation: manipulate the elements of water, air, fire, earth, light, or dark in a destructive manner. Restoration: heal yourself or others either of minor disease, ailment, broken bones, or gashes and cuts, restore lost fatigue, strength, and magic, and create magical barriers and safeguards to resist other offenses. Illusion: trick the eyes of others by showing false imagery or giving someone a false sensation of drowning, burning, suffocating, etc, change a person's mood/feelings, silence another mage's magic, and become invisible. Conjuration: conjure up any makeshift, inanimate, solid object imaginable, from weapons to shields to torches to vials for alchemy. Auxiliary: other spells that do not fit into the other schools of magic are considered auxiliary, such as detecting life, absorbing spells, stealing souls, and using telepathy and telekinesis.
Selfish Schools of Magic* Selfish magic users can use magic from the holy schools, but they also have three of their own schools. Practicing magic from these schools is illegal all across Osoa.
Necromancy: command the bodies of the dead to do whatever your heart desires them to do. Compulsion: command the bodies of the living to do whatever you heart desires them to do. Transgression: manipulate the flow of powerful, dark, raw negative energy and use it in a highly destructive manner.
* selfish schools of magic cannot be learned without first being bought from the shop for a reasonable price.
