late morning on imbrium 12th, 1594 entrance hall of castle kyla, tenesidus
Calista materialized in front of the capitol wrapped in the warmest clothes she could find. This was why she lived at the base of the Veroia Mountains, any higher up and her small and slim body couldn't handle the cold all to well. She walked swiftly into the castle, her mystic's cloak waving lightly as she walked. Why had she come here? If Dranixs hadn't heard about it from a messenger she was there to tell him herself.
Verfall had split off from the Empire. Calsita honestly thought that it was a dumb move on King Falkor's part, but she wasn't a ruler nor did she live in Verfall. She didn't know the extent of the situation down there or why King Falkor would go to such an extreme measure. Well, unless he was drugged with "act like an idiot and try to split up a stable empire" medicine.
Was this truly the King's doing? It just seemed....unusual. She never thought Falkor would try such a stunt. Why now too? Why the sudden change when things were running so smoothly. Was Aria's death really enough to push him over the edge? No, there had to be another reason.
But what?
Calista looked up and glanced around the chamber, hoping that eventually someone would show up. She needed to talk to King Dranixs as soon as possible.

Dranixs ran his fingers lightly over the dusty keys of the old organ that sat in the far back of the library. He sat down on the stool in front of the neglected instrument and pressed one of the keys down and the sound produced echoed through out the castle. He released the key as a piece of music he learned when he was younger came to mind and he started to play. The music flowed through the halls of the castle giving it a haunted feeling and the citizens who walked the halls stopped and listened for only a few knew of the instrument producing the music.
As he played memories the world around him seemed to disappear, the politics, the worries, the fears, all of it gone, swept from his mind by the toccata and fugue that flowed from the organ pipes. As he finished everything came swarming back to him but most importantly the secession of Verfall, but Dranixs didn't want to trouble himself with that just yet so he went back to playing.

Calista stood there patiently, knowing that eventually someone would come, and that hunch was right as a young faerie, not much taller than herself and obviously younger walked into the hall. If she remembered correctly the boy's name was Hisoka. She watched patiently as he bowed steeply to her and secretly wondered why this faerie was considered nobility. Probably had something to do with being distantly related to someone, or his parents were just rich nobles. She didn't really know the truth.
"Mystic Calista, what brings you to grace us with your presence today?" Hisoka asked as he straightened up and looked at the mystic in confusion. It wasn't often that the mystic visited, she hated the cold, unlike himself who honestly loved it just as much as a Snow Elf or Polnoc did.
"I would like to speak with King Dranixs, if he's not too busy that is." She stated simply, giving the faerie a friendly smile. "If you would be kind enough to tell him I am here to speak with him it would be much appreciated."
She shifted and conjured up herself a chair on which she sat while she waited for the young faerie to get back as he ran off to tell the King of her presence.
Hisoka approached the library knowing that King Dranixs was the only one who ever touched the organ anymore. He slowly approached and waited patiently for him to pause in his playing before taking a knee and speaking. "My Lord, Court Mystic Calsita Celandine is here and is requesting an audience with you." He stated simply, not looking up from his position, his eyes trained on the ground.

Residing in the corner of the library as a fox colored black, Arrow pricked her ears at the sound of another approaching. Her crimson-violet eyes narrowed at Hisoka in curiousity and nothing more as he bowed before the King as anyone lower in status should. Picking herself up, she placed her front legs out in front of her in a stretch and yawn before trotting over to the two.
An audience with a mystic from Consilium? Why would she be here? The wonder of why she was here made her change from fox to human, the special material of clothing allow it to keep shape so she wasn't indecent. She placed herself on the ground next to the stool where the King sat and gazed at Hisoka.
"Could you not apologize for the inconvenience of timing, Hisoka?" Her words weren't harsh, more of a questioning tone than anything. Arrow had been enjoying the music. She never had the skill to play such a thing. It was admiration that she had for him that allowed her to enjoy even further. "Do you even know why she's here?"

The sounds of the pipe organ died away as Dranixs lifted his fingers from the keys and an empty silence replaced it. He stood up from the stool and turned to walk down an isle towards the main hall of the library. As he walked down the isle he spoke loud enough for both Hisoka and Arrow to hear him, "Hisoka, bring Mystic Calista here. I wish to stay here in the library for a bit longer."
He approached a chair that was located underneath a stained glass window, pulled a book from a shelf then took a seat and began to read. "Arrow would you please bring me a glass of wine and bread so I may break my fast? We will discuss your assignment after I have finished my conversation with Calista." He said as his eyes swept over the pages. "You may remain to listen if you wish once you bring me my wine and bread."

Hisoka nodded and stood up, turning to Arrow. "I do not know why she is here. I didn't want to prod with matters she obviously wanted to speak with the King about." He stated simply before turning and heading off to fetch the Mystic.
A few minutes later he lead Calista into the Library. He took a knee again in front of the king. "I have brought her at your request. Do you want me to stay or get you anything else?" He asked simply while Calista in turn did her own graceful bow to the king before righting herself.
"It does not matter who hears the news that I bring, though I am not all to sure if you have the news already yet or not. If you do then my trip to this cold mountain may have been a small waste." She stated simply, pulling her coat tighter. She was still cold, and her magics weren't helping enough. Normally she would warm up the air around her to a more comfortable level, but for some odd reason she couldn't get it to warm up a bit more. It was strange, she didn't understand it but raised the air temperature around her a little anyways, though it didn't up as much as she wanted.
Maybe it was due to the thinness of the air here? That was the only thing she could personally think of too keep the air from warming up as she wanted it to.

Arrow frowned in the slightest, but nodded and swiftly walked out of the library. Another assignment? It might have been a selfish thought, but that seemed like the only thing she was doing those days. She honestly longed for the days that they shared when they were teenagers and they had more free time. That was another thought for another day, however.
She was quick to retrieve a bottle of red wine, two glasses, and a loaf of bread before coming back. She arrived at nearly the same as the mystic and Hisoka. Arrow didn't hesitate in placing herself on the arm of Dranixs' chair. Conjuring a table, she placed the loaf of bread and glasses down and filled the glasses with wine.
The look she gave the mystic was possessive as she leaned a bit closer to Dranixs. It wasn't that she didn't trust the mystic. Arrow always had that look as a warning for people who came to the castle. She cared deeply about Dranixs and she was not about to let someone take him from her, not matter who it was.

A terrible, harrowing shriek filled the silence left open by Calista's statement. It came from outside the castle. Above it, actually, and it was loud enough to shake the entire structure to its roots. Again, the castle shook when the great winged beast landed on the top of it, breathing flames hot enough to melt the strongest metal in mere seconds.
It was a feral dragon, the bigger, wilder, more hostile, and more powerful cousin to the domestic dragon.
The dragon unleashed another vile shriek from its terrible jaws, followed by a blanketing jet of flames that consumed the sparring yard and turned it all to ash, including any practicing partners.
There was something different about this dragon, however. It seemed to have a motive, more than just trying to purge the planet of wretched humans. A mysterious black mist surrounded it, very faint but noticeable if one took a close look.
More importantly, it wore a banner around its neck with a familiar sigil embroidered into its black fabric: the face of a dragon, sigil of the kingdom of Verfall. This same sigil was branded into the beast's chest.
The feral dragon continued to rain fire on the capital city of Tenesidus, scorching citizens to a crisp and melting guards' armors to their skins. It shrieked again and encircled the castle, breathing infernos upon the land.

Dranixs felt the roar of the dragon shake through the castle rattling the wine glasses. He watched with a bored look as the wine glasses fell from the table to the floor and shatter, sending shards of glass in random directions. "So it begins." Dranixs said as he stood up from his chair, "Calista get the civilians out of harms way, Arrow you're in charge of the archers, Hisoka I want you to call your dragon and engage the dragon." Dranixs walked out of the library at a fast pace; as he passed guards, he shouted orders telling them to take defensive positions and try to ground the dragon. He reached the throne and reached down to grab his twin long-swords, the once bored look in his eyes now turned to complete blood lust and ecstasy for the coming battle. He rotated the sword in his left hand, feeling all the slightest curves of the handle, the sword he had used to supposedly end his brothers life, the same sword, even though not magical, seeming to call out to Dranixs to feed it with the blood of his enemies. "Our enemy may be larger than us but he will fall to us." Dranixs said to his sword, unaware of who was around him and with no attempt to hide the blood lust. He craved for battle everyday, and today seemed to be his lucky day. He sheathed his swords, turned to face doors that lead to the court yard that the dragon had devastated and undid the clips that fastened his cloak to his armor for he had no use of it before crossing the hall and opening the door. The few seconds it took for the door to open seemed like days for him and everything was crystal clear. The armor he wore felt like ice on his skin, raising goosebumps; the heat of the air from the incinerated courtyard felt like summer sun on his face, filling him with excitement; the roar of the dragon sounded like the drums of war in his ears, and he felt his hands go down to his swords, the sound of metal scraping against metal filling his head as he looked at the dragon and laughed.

Calista spun around on her heels and swiftly walked out. She knew what she needed to do, get the civilians out of there. But after that, she was heading straight back over, a mystic could be quite useful against a dragon considering the whole talking to it could help. Not that that mattered much in this case. It seemed to be on a rampage after all. For all she knew the beast was beyond reason.
Hisoka nodded and instantly called out to his dragon mentally. Arashi, you are needed. A dragon is attacking, it sounds large. Hisoka spun around and dashed ahead of the king straight to the courtyard where Arashi had swooped down, using his speed to get past the other dragon with ease. He jumped up and landed in the riding saddle Arashi always had on in case of an emergency.
The two dashed upwards, straight at the dragon. It was much larger then the young dragon. But Arashi could use his speed to more then make up for it. A jet of flame erupted from the mouth of the dragon in an attempt to catch i's attention. Arashi, we must get this thing on the ground so that Dranixs can take care of it. We wont last too long up here against it.
