(lame title. i'll think of something better later.)
The land of Morningstar once had a prince and princess. The princess, Lily, ruled over her subjects with a kind hand and was loved for that. Her brother, Luke, the prince, was hard-working, but was also distant and lacking in something significant that would make him stand out as a true leader. It was something that even he wasn't sure of. He felt as if something was missing in his life, but he couldn't place what it was.
At the bright age of 21 for Luke, word of a dark sorceress swept through the kingdom like wildfire. The villagers were afriad of her, claiming that she put curses on people who ventured too far into her woods. Luke and Lily tried to tell the citizens that there was nothing to fear. However, when one person actually came back injured, the royals knew they had to take some sort of action.
Luke, along with his most trusted knight and best friend, Adyn, rode to the Chisana Forest. Adyn was only a year older, but he was agreeable and one of the best fighters in Illiandran. They traveled no more than an hour into the forest before strange things began to happen.
"Ack! Adyn! Did you just touch my leg?!" Luke hopped a step away and shot a smirk in the knight's direction. "I hate to break it to you, but I sure as hell don't swing that way!"
Adyn rolled his eyes and pushed Luke. "Do you really think I would do that?" Before Luke could make a comment like 'yes', he continued, His green eyes focused ahead as he resumed forward. Nothing really looked out of place for him, but that was Adyn for you.
For Luke, however, the feeling that something had brushed against his leg put him on edge. Whether Adyn believed him or not, there was something weird going on.
"Go back..."
Luke whipped his head around, hand reaching for the sword on his belt. "Did you hear that?" He whispered.
"No," Adyn replied and shook his head. He pulled his sword from his sheath, though Luke wasn't sure if it was because of the voice or just our of his habit. Luke hoped for the latter.
"Go back!!" This time, the voice loud was loud and it shook the leaves of the trees. Adyn and Luke jumped simultaneously. Strangely enough, the voice didn't truly sound menacing like it was meant to be. If anything, it had a sort of lyrical tone about it that was just masked barely by the mild ferocity and volume.
"Show yourself, coward!" Adyn yelled, swinging his sword back and forth in the air like any good, old threat, which left Luke wondering if he should choose a different knight for the best position, jokingly, of course.
And, surprisingly, the response to the knight was a giggle that sounded as if it should have belonged to a child. "Show myself?" The mysterious being responded. "Coward? Maybe you should come find me. Unless, of course, you're the coward in that situation." It was now evident that the speaker was female. And, Luke didn't want to admit it, but it was kind of pretty.
Adyn began smacking the foliage around him, thinking maybe the coward was just hiding in one of the bushes nearby. And, of course, she wasn't. Actually, at the present, she was behind Luke, sitting in midair with an amused expression. Her eyes looked at Luke with happiness and then rolled when she glanced at Aydn and his idiocy.
Turn around, but don't say a word, The girl's voice entered Luke's mind softly, like she was merely whsipering in his ear. She smiled a bit more as he turned in what seemed like slow motion.
He was quite surprised to find her floating off the ground about a foot or two. Blonde hair, so pure that it was almost white, spilled over her slender shoulders and flowed down to at least her knees. The way she was sitting in the air -- with her knees to her chest and her arms wrapped around her legs -- and the manner of which she smiled was almost childlike. But what got Luke the most was her eyes which stuck against her near porcelain skin. Colors of green, blue, and lavender swam in her irises.
