glacialis 14, 1593, afternoon falian lowlands, 20 miles northwest of deliciae
It was a straight shoot down into a cluster of pointed rocks and trecherous waters if she took another step forward. Zola would rather not. She liked the place she was standing, not by much, better. The Mystic stared for one more second before shivering and moving back a foot or so. Shaking her head to try and erase the memory of the dizzying height, she began picking her way back to Deliciae.
Her eyes shifted about nervously and she hugged her newly picked herbs closer to herself. Zola didn't exactly mean to venture out so far; she disliked getting so far away from the castle or places she knew. Before she knew it, however, she was already out of sight of the city.
Snap!
Zola's whole body whipped around until she was facing the opposite direction. "H-Hello...?" She mumbled, cerulean irises darting around hectically. There was no one there, but there was a snapped twig laying behind her. Did she do that?
You're so paranoid! Zola scolded herself, turning back to Deliciae, taking a deep breath, and resuming her walk. It wasn't long until she thought she heard steps behind her, but, when she stopped, so did the noises. She stopped three times before she began to get scared and frustrated. Suddenly, she spun on her heel and called, "I'm n-not joking! I know fighting... stuff."
The mermaid gazed behind her for a long two minutes. When nothing happened, she nodded in satisfaction. "I guess I am just hearing thi-- AHH!!"
Without realizing it, she had drifted a little bit too far to the edge. When she turned, her foot had slipped right off. Zola managed to get her hands around a stray branch not too far down, though. Just gotta teleport myself up there, She thought and closed her eyes, willing herself to teleport.
Nothing happened. Her eyes popped open. Someone was silencing her magic. Someone was following her! "Help!" She called, hoping someone other than whoever was following her would hear her.

To think finding some damn plant would be easier in Deliciae. If he had spoken aloud, it would have been a mutter. He had looked high and low for the plant he was looking for, mistletoe, yet it was no where to be found. It couldn't have died off already,he hoped to himself. Surely winter plants could last in colder weather than this?
He was looking for the mistletoe so he could surprise Bailey. He had, upon listening to her and her friend gossiping, that it was a dream of hers to be spontaneously kissed under mistletoe, as was traditional and so damn... romantic. So damn... Bailey! His toes were numb, but he still kept on his search for the god forsaken plant.
His golden brown eyes darted up into the tree branches. Aha! There it was, attached to the smaller twigs at the top. He could never climb that high, he was too heavy. If only I had damn wings, like a normal faerie, he thought bitterly. Shaking this out of his head, he grabbed the slender tree with both hands and shook, sending small, brittle twigs flying every which way. The mistletoe came landing atop his head.
He heard a girl's voice then, calling out, asking who was there. He shrugged, ignoring it, and continued on his way, holding the shaken down plant triumphantly in his hand. The water was loud in his ears, and he did not hear the girl again save for one piercing word that, for some reason, is always audible over any other word. "Help!"
Kyo dashed automatically to where he heard the word coming from and leaned over the edge, locking eyes with a girl clinging desperately to a small tree branch too far down to reach for. "Stay calm," he said reassuringly. "Just hold on, I won't let you fall. Just hold on." He reiturated this because, after focusing his magic, the tree branch began to grow and change shape.
"Don't let go." He willed the earth to move around the tree branch, bringing it ever-so-slowly toward the top of the ravine. Eventually, the girl's wrist was within grabbing distance, so he reached down low and took hold of her wrist and pulled her up, years of backbreaking work on the farm making this girl's weight seem like nothing.
"Are you alright?" he asked when the girl had her feet on the ground. (OOC: This is a cliff/waterfall type thing, right? That's what I'm picturing.)

Zola immediately sunk to the ground once she was on her feet, her knees shaking so badly that they wouldn't help her stay up anyway. She had almost fallen down that huge cliffside. She would have died since her magic was silenced by someone. Briefly, she wondered if this person was the cause of that. But then why would they save her right after causing her to fall and almost lose her life?
"F-Fine..." She replied. "Just a little shaken up," The mermaid stood up after she noticed she had stopped shaking so badly. "I'm sorry to have caused you that trouble. Usually that wouldn't have been an issue for me..." Zola trailed off as she finally took a good look at the boy.
"Oh! I know you!" She smiled, clearly pleased by the fact that she recognized this boy. "Well, I mean, I don't know you personally. I know that I've seen you before in the castle with uhmm... She gossips a lot. I mean, that's not necessarily a bad thing! I, uhm... uh..."
She stuck her hand out, "I'm Zola. Sorry for troubling you."

A dashing smile came to Kyo's lips, he culdn't help it. The girl's uncomfortable demeanor was just amusing to him. "Kyo," he replied after reaching out to shake her hand. "And the person you're talking about is my girlfriend, Bailey." He explained, as if the girl cared. "She does gossip a lot," he added with a wink.
Tilting his head curiously, Kyo wondered why she had implied it wouldn't usually be a problem. Was she injured? She didn't look injured. "Can I ask why it was only now you would've needed my help?" he inquired, not wanting to seem pushy or prying.
He realized then that he had lost his mistletoe over the falls when he leaned down to reach for the girl's hand. "Shoot," he mumbled, looking for a scrap of the plant he could regrow it from. Seeing one of the berries on the ground, he held it in his hands and channeled his magic inside it. When he opened his hands, a small, perfect cluster of mistletoe plant was inside. He smiled, pleased he didn't have to re-find another cluster of the tricky plant.

"Bailey and Kyo. That seems right. Farrah has mentioned you two on multiple occassions," Zola beamed in triumph. It put her at so much more ease knowing who her savior was. And there was no reason for Kyo to silence her powers. He had a very strong grip on his earth manipulation and, as far as she knew, didn't seem like a bad guy. He wouldn't hurt the mystic of Deliciae for selfish reasons.
Upon the mention of needing help now, she remembered that someone was still probably following her. She bit her lip and wondered if she should tell Kyo about it. Sighing, she nodded. "Someone has silenced my magical abilities. I should be able to do something, but someone is hindering it. I just don't know who."
And someone was hindering the mystic's magic. Autry Shannon sat on one of the high tree branches, hiding in the leaves. Her dazzling blue eyes stared down at the two, using all effort to keep Zola's magic bottled up. It was proving to be difficult. She just had to wait until the boy was distracted, then she could maybe take some money. She needed it.

The boy's eyebrows shot up ever-so-slightly at her explanation. Someone's silencing your magic?" he reiterated in a worried tone. "Would you like me to walk you back to town? I've got all I need here." He displayed the mistletoe to her in explanation. "Or is there something else you need to do?"
Either way, Kyo had no intention of leaving the girl's side. It simply wasn't his way. If someone was silencing her magic and keeping her from leaving, well he had no intention of leaving an innocent girl behind. A new light flickered in his eyes as a thought occurred to him. "Hold on," he urged. "And stay absolutely silent."
He closed his eyes and reached his magic out to the forest around him. Speak to me, he commanded. Who lingers in your depths? He asked the trees.
He had discovered this talent when he had been frustrated and asking some of his crops why they were growing so slowly. They had responded. "There is a monster within us, master. It keeps us from growing." That was when he realized his magic could communicate with the plants, although it took a great deal of effort to talk to more than one at a time.
There is a thief among us, she intends to hurt your companion. The trees responded. And besides the thief, there is a greater threat, the one who took your wings draws near. Kyo's eyes snapped open. "We should get back to the castle. Now."

"We should get back to the castle. Now."
Autry's eyes narrowed. Damn kid. He knew she was there, or at least around. If only he hadn't shown up in the first place, then she would have just gotten some money from the mystic and been on her way. She couldn't wait for another person to come traveling through the forest; she didn't have time. And, quite frankly, she didn't have much patience for that either.
Zola cast a disappopinted look over the edge of the cliff. With falling she had lost all of the plants that she had gathered together. I suppose I can make do with the plants in the garden, She thought to herself before nodding to Kyo. "Nope. I don't require anything out here."
As Zola started walking in the direction of Deliciae, halting only to wait for Kyo, Autry decided it might be time to make her move. It was just the boy and the mystic. Zola didn't have her magic, so that left the boy. Dropping from the branch, she landed right between Zola and Kyo. With daggers drawn, Autry slashed at the faerie to try and throw him off before one at Zola to keep her preoccupied.

He had barely lifted his foot off the ground to begin the journey back to the castle before it happened. Someone dropped from the trees. He had approximately half a second to size his opponent up before he knew she would strike, probably at him first. She was skinny, quick, and looked light on her feet. However, she also looked a bit unnaturally skinny. Kyo bet she would not be able to keep up a fight for long.
As he suspected, she struck at him first. He managed to dodge the brunt of her attack, but not enough to escape unscathed. Her dagger cut a slash above his eye, sending blood trickling down onto his face and clouding his vision completely. Without full vision, he didn't want to get near the girl, who seemed comfortable with those daggers.
As quickly as he could, he begged the plants beneath the attacker's feet to sprout and grow as quickly as they could. He know there was no chance he could keep her tied down forever, but he could at least slow her down enough to give him an advantage. Grow, tangle around her feet, make her fall. An idea popped into his head. He dropped low, pressing his finger's into the soil, commanding the earth to loosen. True, it was to their disadvantage as well, but the thief relied on speed, and would be greatly impaired with such loose footing.
"Run, Zola!"

"Run? But, Kyo--" The dagger sent at her was dodged easily mainly because the mystic was over cautious about everything and always had a path of escape ready in her mind. She was a flight type of person when it came to a flight or fight situation. But this was one time when she couldn't just let a citizen of Deliciae be harmed. She couldn't get in the way, though. In an attempt to focus better, she hid behind one of the trees.
Kyo's idea was right on the money, Autry easily losing a good hold of the ground and slowing her down drastically. His bet was right on too, because it wasn't taking her much time for her to become out of breath running around and trying to get untangled from the plants that kept wrapping around her ankles. The moment he crouched down, however, she was on his back, arms around his neck with all the strength she had.
My gods, this isn't my day... The blonde thought, breath running ragged as it breezed along the boy's neck. She didn't mean to hurt anybody. This was getting way out of hand.

Things seemed to be going pretty well, until she as on his back, gripping his neck and cutting his windpipe. He flt himself begind to panic without access to air. It reminded him of that feeling when you're swimming, and you dive down to the bottom just to see what it's like. Then, on the way back up to the surface, you realized you've stayed down too long, and your lungs begin to feel like a vacuum, wanting to suck up anything it could to take the pressure away.
But this was simple, there was no need to panic. The girl was tiny, he probably weighted fifty pounds more than she, maybe more. Without a second thought, he flipped on his back, hoping to crush her, or knock the wind out of her, giving him but a moment to escape her grasp, without seriously injuring her. As best as he could choke out from the girl's grasp on his neck he said "I'll get up if you let go." He didn't much like violence, and the strangulation was making his heart beat fast, and his face was beginning to turn red, which also did not help staunch the flor of blood from over his eye.

She really should have seen this coming. Autry really should have seen this coming. The grasp around his neck was lost almost instantly as she was crushed underneath the farmer. The sound in response was a small whimper, followed by a groan of pain. Good gosh, this guy was so heavy. If it weren't for the pain going through whole body, she would have tried pushing him off.
Thankfully, she didn't have to do that. With getting the wind knocked out of her, Zola had gained her magic back immediately. Telekinetic magic allowed her to lift Kyo off the girl and back onto his feet. Next, she set a sleeping spell over the wannabe thief before she could run off or attack again. Sighing in relief, the mystic went over to Kyo. "Are you all right? I'm sorry I couldn't be of better help," She smiled shepishly.
Zola's gaze then traveled over to the girl as she bit her lip. "Umm... What do you think we should do with her?" She inquired. She didn't exactly want to leave her out there in the middle of nowhere, but she had attacked them. Since Kyo had gotten the blunt of the attack, she decided that he should be the one to decided what exactly to do with the lesser angel.

Confusion, followed by relief as he found himself floating off the girl he held below him and back on his own two feet. He let out a sigh, rubbing his sore neck. That was definitely going to bruise. Which meant there was no hiding this situation from Bailey. Damn. She was going to get all flustered and worried and probably tell half the castle that Kyo had been strangled by a tiny girl.
He flicked his brown eyes to the slumbering thief. In her sleep, she looked so much less drawn up, so much gentler. So much... more pitiful. He couldn't keep his angry for a second longer when he saw how tiny and frail she seemed. Even her sleep though, she retained the look of fierce independence that some had said rests on his features as well. "I think," he began, "That we should take her to my farm." He finished, still running this over in his head.
He placed his hand on a nearby tree, sending a vine curling down towards him. Graciously, he plucked he vine and wrapped it around the thief's hands, tight and secure. "Just to be safe," he said with a wink. He hoisted the girl up over his shoulder and began the journey to Kyo's farm. It would be a long walk, about five miles, but the girl was nearly weightless to his labor-worn body.
"We seemed to have met in a very strange way," he mused, with a small smile on his bloody face. "If you don't want to, you don't have to come with my back to my farm. It's not exactly a palace," he informed humbly. The bleeding from his forehead wound had slowed to almost a complete stop, but the left half of his face was completely covered in dried or drying blood. Dear god, if anyone saw him now they'd surely think he was a madman.

"After I didn't do anything during this? I think it's a shame if I don't help in some way. I'll come with you to check on that scratch and give the girl a physical of sorts. Let me just..." A piece of parchment and quill appeared. It didn't take her long to compose a letter for Countess Atratus telling her she would be longer than expected and that if anything urgent came up, all she would need to do is write something on the back of the letter and burn it.
"There, all good now," Zola smiled to herself before jogging to catch up with Kyo. Her gaze traveled to the cut and dried blood on his face. Yes, she would need to give a look to that. It wasn't serious, but infection was always lurking somewhere and she wanted to prevent that as best as she could. Wiping off the dried blood would probably help as well.
Her eyes then landed on the girl. "Gosh, she's so young. I wonder what she was doing out here... Other than attacking I mean," She added the last bit with a nervous laugh. She looked around Kyo's age. Maybe he knew a little bit more about what was up, what she was going through.
