PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS Height: 5'8" Weight: 153 lbs Physical Build: slim, slender, fairly average Hair Color: white-blonde Eye Color: red-amber Description: Ren is a rough and tumble gal, always looking like she’d been on an adventure. Her clothes might be stained with dirt or grass. Her hair, which cascades all the way down to her thighs when she is in human form, always has bits of seaweed strung into it or other plants weaved in. She’s tried to keep her white-blonde hair in a ponytail, but it always just ends up falling out. Her red-amber eyes forever are sparked with the eagerness of a voyage. A smirk or smile is always plastered on her face.
On two feet, standing straight up, she is 5’8” with a slender figure and average curves at the hips and chest. Her legs are powerful from swimming for practically her whole life. She’s the same height in the water, just with a tail instead of her legs. Her tail is simple and a light indigo.
Her skin is a soft peach color except on her cheeks which are usually sun-burned. During the summer, she is more tanned (obviously) from spending much more time in the water and sun. Her normal attire for when she’s in the water is a plain bikini top. On land, she likes to wear anything she can move around in easily. No dresses unless if it’s absolutely necessary.
PERSONALITY AND BELIEFS Alignment: Chaotic Neutral Religious Affiliation: Holy Likes: water, being on her ship[the sea wolf], hanging out with Ryan Starling, doing anything adventurous or thrilling Dislikes: when her crew does not listen to her, Lucille Starling, Ailours, Savras, Tromos Description: Ren lives for the thrill of the world, never holding back from something that sounds fun. She will try anything if someone says she needs to. She’s not afraid of death or getting hurt which can be a disadvantage to her. If she gets hurt by doing something the first time, she doesn’t exactly learn from it. She’s the kind of girl who will try something over and over again and will get hurt again and again.
Not only is she strong in the physical sense, but also in the mental sense. She doesn't break down from stress and she bravely can hold her ground against anyone she chooses too. She never takes back what she says or orders anyone to do. No one on her ship goes against her word or if they do, they get thrown overboard immediately. In her eyes, no one should underestimate her.
She has the maturity of a child. You’ll find that she doesn’t act her age at all, more like a teenager than anything. Ren can’t keep on a project or something for long because she’s easily distracted. The mermaid likes to cause trouble for people and can be a bit of nuisance to her own crew and other sailors. She is not flirtatious, however. She is just an upbeat, mischievous girl who likes a good laugh and a good time.
HISTORY AND BACKGROUND Ren was a shy child, one that was intelligent but would never dare to speak loud enough to actually share any of her maginificent thoughts. If one looked at Ren presently and looked at her as a child, they would not think of her as the same person. As a child, she was cautious, timid, and did not wish to explore the outside world as she did now. Whenever she needed to get into the water, she would fill up a tub, pour salt into it, and then stay quiet as she just sat in the small pool of salt water.
Her parents were very distant. They let her do what ever she wanted mainly because they knew she was a responsible and smart girl. Besides, most of the time, she was far too frightened of the outside world to venture out of the safety that was their home.
The safety of home, however, was to be moved to the land of Utro, a place very different from Ergas where Ren was living before they decided to move. They packed up their stuff (which wasn't a lot), got some horses, and started their way towards Utro, much to Ren's discomfort.
It was a bright, beautiful day when they decided to relax and take a day off from travelling. And it wasn't just any day; it was Ren's 14th birthday. She didn't tell her parents where she was going because, as mentioned before, they didn't constantly ask where she was. So, she wandered a bit on her own, finding herself at the beach in a matter of a twenty minute walk.
She had never been to a beach or the ocean before, because of her shy nature. There was no one around, so, nervously, she slipped into the water, also slipping into her mermaid form. She cautiously dipped her head under, breathing and staying under for as long as she wanted to. It was beautiful below the surface of the waves, so beautiful that she was able to get lost.
When she finally broke the surface and came back up, she noticed that she was not alone anymore. A boy was walking along the beach, seeming to be looking around, patrolling. Ren was very glad that day that she was wearing a dress to cover herself up.
His name was Ryan. Ryan Starling. He was a knight in the city of Utro and he was also the one to slowly pull Ren out of her introverted behavior. A more rebellious, adventurous, and outgoing Ren began to show herself the more time she spent with Ryan. It wasn't long before Ren and Ryan's friendship blossomed into a more intimate relationship. Ren's parents disapproved, but they had spent so much time out of her life that she didn't care. She loved Ryan and she couldn't think of anything more important than him.
